Thermospheric Density Explorer
Gray background shows Kp intensity. Hover for details. Absolute values are INDICATIVE guesses.
Stacked normalized density (0-1) per 100km altitude band. Shaded regions show Bayesian ±1σ posterior predictive intervals that account for sample size. Hover for details.
These panels show rough thermospheric density estimates derived from TLE orbital decay rates for 50 debris objects spanning 350-650 km altitude (Fengyun-1C, COSMOS 2251, Iridium 33, and COSMOS 1408 debris). TLEs are sourced from Space-Track. The normalized "waves" view highlights relative variability across satellites, while the combined plot shows indicative absolute values (treat with caution - ballistic coefficients are guessed). Space weather context from NOAA SWPC: real-time solar wind (DSCOVR at L1), GOES magnetometer (geostationary), and Kp index.
